Abstract

Euspilotus ater n. sp. is described for Perú, Chile and Argentina. Eleven new records for the fauna of Peruvian Saprininae are cited. Based on examination of the type material, three new synonyms are proposed: Euspilotus (Hesperosaprinus) erythropleurus (Marseul, 1855) = Saprinus batesoni Blair, 1933; Euspilotus (Hesperosaprinus) modestus (Erichson, 1834 = Saprinus campechianus Marseul, 1855; y Euspilotus (Hesperosaprinus) innubus (Erichson, 1834) = Saprinus bohemanni Marseul, 1862. In the case of E. (H.) erythropleurus (Marseul), cited although with doubts for USA, its geographical distribution is restricted to Ecuador, Galapagos Islands and Perú.
