Abstract

A new genus and a new species of Spilopyrinae exclusive from Valdivian temperate rain forest at Valdivia and Chiloé provinces, Chile, are described.

Dorymolpus n. gen. is distinguished by its mesosternal process anteriorly elongated on prosternum in a short spine, anterior coxal cavities open and simple claws; this genus includes a single species: Dorymolpus elizabethae n. sp. The larva of the new species is also described; the specimen was collected on foliage of Nothofagus dombeyi (Mirb.) Oerst. Some comments on subfamilies Eumolpinae and Spilopyrinae are given.
