Description of a new species of Hybreoleptops Kuschel, 1949, and comments about other species of the genus (Insecta: Coleoptera: Curculionidae)

Abstract

Hybreoleptops roseus n. sp. is described, and it distribution in the coast of central Chile, at elevations of 200 to 450 meters above sea level, and between 34°10'S and 36°10'S, is recognized. Adults are associated with leaves of various trees and shrubs present there. Based on the study of the type material, the following synonymy is established: Hybreoleptops santiagensis Pérez and Posadas, 2006 = Hybreoleptops juanjosei Pérez and Posadas, 2006. The first name having priority by page precedence over the second.

Notes about the diagnostic characters of Hybreoleptops are made, host plants are indicated and a key to the species is presented.

Hybreoleptops vestitus (Blanchard) is recorded for the first time for Neuquén, in Argentina.
