Abstract

Type specimens of ten Curculionidae species described by Blanchard (1851) in the Historia Fisica y Politica de Chile, are studied. These species were described in the genera Malonotus, Geonemides, Strangaliodes, Megalometis, and Tapinopsis.

For each Blanchard's species the lectoype and paralectoptypes are designated. We also included type designation specimens of Megalometis xanthomelas Fairmaire and Germain, 1861. Specimens from another two species studied by Blanchard, are also included.
