Abstract

The type specimens of the three Issus species described by Spinola (1852) in the Historia Fisica y Politica de Chile are studied. If proceed, for each Spinola's species the lectoype and paralectoptypes, are designated. The generic combination and current taxonomic position, geographic distribution, seasonal activity and host plants are indicated for these species. Additionally a new synonymy is proposed:

- Sarnus decipiens (Spinola, 1852) = Sarnus rhomboidalis Fennah, 1965 n. syn.

The name Issus quadrifrons Casale, 1982 is a nomen nudum.
