Abstract

The presence of Eulimnichus ater (LeConte, 1854) in Chile is recorded for the first time. General characteristics are given on the morphology, ecology and distribution of Limnichidae. A characterization of the genus and the species and its distribution in Chile is made. The variation of the characters of the Chilean specimens with respect to those of the redescription of the species is indicated. Pictures of external characters of the species and a figure of his male genitalia are presented.
