Abstract

In the Lenca bay, Seno de Reloncaví, southern Chile, we registered the seasonal fluctuation and nesting of the Flightless Steamer Duck Tachyeres pteneres. We noted an increase in population abundance during the winter season and a decline for the summer season. By the end of summer 2007 we observed three breeding pairs: one of them was observed with two chicks, another one with four chicks and the last was seen without chicks.
