Abstract

The macroalgae diversity from Caleta Quintay, Valparaíso in the central coast of Chile during a year period is reported. 85 species have been identified so far, similar figure to the number of species previously known for the area. The number of species increased during autumn - winter and at the end of spring - early summer, like occur in others temperate coast around the world. Four new records remarkable: Stictosiphonia hookerii, Catenella fusiformis, Asparagopsis armata and Botryocladia skottsbergii. These findings do not have effect in the biogeography of the area. The presence of the species A. armata during the year is emphasized since it's invasive status species.
