Abstract

This work provides a compilation of chromosome studies carried out on Chilean aquatic mollusks. Information for 25 species belonging to Gastropoda and Bivalvia is shown. All known chromosome numbers are included and the chromosome morphology of five species is also given. The chromosome complement of the species of Gastropods and Bivalves analysed are mainly diploids, although the occurrence of polyploidy has been described in taxa of both class. The antecedents herein showed for species, genera and families, may be a useful reference for future basic and applied cytogenetic studies in Chilean aquatic mollusks.
