Abstract

In this paper we describe a new species of frog belonging to the Atelognathus genus, found in the Reserva Nacional Lago Jeinimeni, Chilean Patagonia; description includes either osteological as well as chromosomical information. The new species is compared with the already described species in the genus. Also we report some aspects of the biology and we suggest some lines in order to protect this species, which is restricted to a very small pond in the area.
