Abstract

A moss flora of Isla Grande de Chiloé with 134 species, distributed in 66 genera and 35 families, is catalogued, on the basis of Museo Nacional de Historia Natural de Chile Herbarium (SGO) specimens, collections made by the authors in Ahuenco, Cordillera de Piuchué and Queilen sites, and literature references. Additionally, it is considered species and genera richness, habitats, sociology, geographical ranges in Chile, localities in the island and collectors. The geographical distribution patterns of species and genera are analized and the Gondwanic relationships of the lineages which have discontinuous ranges between the continental regions of the Southern Hemisphere, are discussed.
