Sixteen species belonging to marine bivalves mollusks from fossiliferous outcrops in Guafo Island, Los Lagos Region, southern Chile, are described and commented; three of them, Nucula (Leionucula) subaraucana, Limatula covacevichi and Mulinia chilota are proposed as new species. The comparative analysis made with others bivalves assemblages of the Chilean Neogene, suggests the studied materials might be placed in the Pliocene. A more accurate position for them, in the Upper Pliocene, is here proposed, taking into consideration the presence of three species, which were proposed as characteristic fossils for this epoch in Chile.
