Abstract

The revision of the genus Cristaria (Malvaceae) distributed in arid regions of the Pacific coast: Peru and Chile, and the Andes of Peru. Chile and Argentina, is realized. Chile had 80 species and 3 varieties described for this genus, among these were 9 species and one variety, later transferred to other genera. The original descriptions, types and phototypes of all the entities described for Chile were consulted, besides the description and icono of C. multifida Cav., from Peru. After this study, where a lot of material was revised, the conclusion is that in Chile, the genus contains 19 species and 8 varieties; among these there are 3 new species: C. calderana, C. ovata and C. tenuissima, proposed in this opportunity. A key for the identification of the entities, morphological descriptions, general distribution and individual distribution for all the entities are presented. The entities are illustrated with linear drawings of the leaves.
