A check-list of Chilean terrestrial repliles is provided. Comments are made on relevant taxonomical or historical aspects of genera and/or species. We recognize 106 biological forms (bi and trinominal plus those included under the nomina dubia). Two snake genera five species and three subspecies, the latter considered of doubtful status), and 10 genera of lizards (83 species and 18 subspecies) arc listed. The lizard genus Liolacnms has four species of doubtful taxonomical validity, same as one of Mi crolophus (a taxonomic reassessment is proposed). Another lizard species, currently in Ctenoblepharys has unclear generic relationships. Vernacular names are proposed for each species. Main changes with respect to previous Chilean check-lists are: a) the snake Philodryas simonsii and the lizard Liolaemus darwini are deleted from the Chilean fauna; b) the L. nigroviridis complex of subspecies is fully synonymized with the nominal form; c) the subspecies of L. leopardinus are considered full species; d) three lizard species previously known from Argentina, are incorporated in the Chilean list; e) L. puritamensis is a synonymy of L. dorbigiiyi; f) Tropidurus is a synonymy of Microlophus, in which two subspecies are nominated, and g) Garthia is synonymized with Homonota.
