Abstract

Two new species of tropidurid lizards are described as Liolaemus maldonadae Navarro and Nuñez, from 4th Administrative Region of Chile (Coquimbo) and Liolaemus cristiani Navarro, Nuñez and Loyola, from 7 th Administrative Region of Chile (Maule). Liolaemus maldonadae has as diagnostic features a broad and deeply melanistic blotch on sides, this patch covers part of neck up to middorsum, also, an antihumeral spot. These characters are good enough to discriminate it among their congenerics. Likcwi.sc, L. cristiani, presuntively belongs to Cei's kriegi group (Cei, 1986), presents a melanic path on body sides, dorsal unpatterned, and medium vertebral scales slightly keeled, they become almost smooth to ward sides with minutes scales intersparsed among the big gerones. Comparisons with other related species and karyotipie features are detailed for L,. maldonadae.
