Cryphiops caementarius (Molina, 1782) larvae obtained from females (MNHN-D N° 10873) captured in Rio Lluta (18°00'S, 69°38'W) were maintained in a fresh and sea water solution in proportions of 1: 1, 1:2, 1:3 and 1:4, fed with Artemia salina nauplius. Two experiments were separated starting with Mysis III: 100 larvae/liter each, salinities o f 10%o and 20%o at 23°C as average temperature. 18 larval stages were obtained from Mysis I to Post larva (MNHN-D N° 10874, a-t). Typical characteristics for each larval stage are, I: carapace with a rostral and a pterigostomian spine. II: carapace with supraorbital spines. Ill: carapace with a gastric spine. IV: birramous uropods. V: carapace with 2 pairs of pterigostomian spines. VI: lateral distal thirds of the telson with 3 spines. VII: endopodite of the uropods with 14 setae. VIII: endopodite of the uropods with 18 setae. IX: the 5 first abdominal segments with small ventral buds. X: the 4 first abdominal segments with pleopods. XI: the second pleopod is the biggest one. XII: beginning of chela formation. XIII: 4 setae between rostral and gastric spines. XIV: 6 setae between rostral and gastric spines. XV: antenal scale with 33 setae. XVI: 7 setae between rostral and gastric spines. XVII: a first row with 4 and a second one with 5 setae between rostral and gastric spines. Post Mysis with 2 spines and three rows of setae between rostral and gastric spines. Biogeographic and evolutionary considerations of the species are included.
