Abstract

Two new records Chinchilla chinchilla from the Atacama region are presented and compared with those provided by Lagos et al. (2012), Valladares et al. (2012), and projects admitted to the Environmental Impact Assessment Service that have recorded the species in the region. The distances among some of the new records and the previous ones are greater than three km, with potential habitat discontinuous for the species. Some new and previous records are very close to each other and are considered as part of the same colony. In addition, the contribution of the environmental baselines studies to register this species is highlighted.
