Abstract

Th biology of Megathopa villosa Eschscholtz, 1822 was studied in a population from Con-Coa Alto, Valparaíso. This study was enriched with further observations in other localities. The method for the extraction and conservation of both the nutrient and reproductive reserve, the modification of the nutritious behaviour during the dry season, the construction of the reproductive bolus as well as its characteristics, and larval activities, were described. The life cycle and the periods of the different developmental stages were established. The seasonal distributions of adult density was analyzed.
