Abstract

Specimens belonging to 23 species of decapod crustaceans were caught with Heterocarpus reedi by trawlers in an area off Central Chile, from Los Vilos to- Quintero (October 1976-December 1979), between 250 and 500 m depth. Some general considerations about the distribution of the species related with hydrographic characteristics of the water masses existing in the sampled area are given. Stomach content analysis of specimens belonging to 12 species yield a total of 16 food items. Some specific food selectivity was found.
