Abstract

The two only species of eels of the family Congridae known from the american coastline of Chile are Pseudoxenomystax albescens (Barnard, 1923) and Xenomystax atrarius Gilbert, 1891. The first records of the first one for the South Eastern Pacific Ocean and the geographic distribution of both species are revised with account of morphological features of the specimens in relation to their taxonomy.
