The common vampire bat (Desmodus rotundus, E. Geoffroy Saint Hillaire, 1810) is the only blood eating bat that inhabits Chile. The species distribution is described from northern México to the seacoast in Valparaíso (coastal scrubland). This study reports a new location with at least 20 individuals, expanding the southern boundary in Chilean territory to Navidad, Libertador Bernardo O'Higgins region, specifically to Pupuya island.
