Abstract

The presence of two exotic species of the genus Stenothoe is reported for the first time in Chile. Previously, the genus was represented by the endemics S. magellanica Rauschert, 1998 and S. boloceropsis Krapp-Schickel et al., 2015, to which we added Stenothoe georgiana Bynum and Fox, 1977, reported from the region of Atacama and Los Lagos, and Stenothoe valida Dana, 1852 known only from Los Lagos region. Both amphipods are components of fouling communities and have been collected cohabiting in association with hidrozoans and other exotic amphipods. Diagnoses and figures are given for each species and identification keys for the Stenothoid genera and the species of Stenothoe in Chile are included.
