Abstract

Breeding sites for the Thin-billed Prion and Sooty Shearwater south of the Strait of Magellan in southern Chile are described. The former species is known to breed in only two sites around Isla Desolación e Isla Santa Inés area and the later in at least 13 sites most located around the Wollaston Archipelago. The Thin-billed Prion start the breeding cycle in November finishing in late March, early April. The Sooty Shearwater start the breeding cycle from about mid-November to at least April. Both species nest in burrows and lay a single egg.
