Results obtained on the distribution and abundance of the land snail Cerion coutini
Sánchez Roig, 1951, an exclusive endemic from Parque Nacional Alejandro de Humboldt, Sector
Baracoa, Guantánamo, Cuba, are presented. This species is restricted to El Cayo, in the habitat of sandy
coastline vegetation and the ever-green mesophyle forest, with densities of 40.85 ind/m2 and 14.32 ind/
m2, respectively. These values are high despite the environmental decline of this ecosystem.
