Abstract

The purpose of this work, is to give a context toan anthropomorphic mask, known as «fake head» or «funeral mask» belonging to Chancay Culture and to display the process of conservation and restoration .. This culture had its development in the central coast of Peru, during the Período Intermedio Tardío ( 1100 a 1470 d.C.). In this piece, whose base is textile cotton, is defined a face, by means of combination of painting, the application of copper sheets and small wood beams, In the upper part it presents displays, as a turban, a set of textiles, gauzes and small wood pieces. lt has been chosen this case by the diversity of components and materiality of it, which difficult to decide the methodologic and technical process for their conservation and restoration.
